About The Staff
Mr. Philip Sheaff
Phil founded My Music Lessons 8 years ago. He started teaching privately by himself and grew his client base until he could no longer handle the student body. He then began hiring other teachers to help him, and now My Music Lessons is turning into a small school with a student body of 80+. He has a degree from Berklee College of Music, and has been teaching privately for 16 years. He is a recording artist as well, and his music can be heard on Nickelodeon today.
Kevin Reid
Kevin Reid is the former founder & director of a highly successful Chicago area school with a staff of 30 teachers and over 500 students. He's given thousands of lessons to hundreds of students (youth and adults). He sold the school in 2008 and has recently returned to the Chicago area after working on a extensive music project, involving over 200 performers, that he wrote and co-produced (www.aworldanthem.org). Kevin has experience recording and performing with his former rock band, Native Altar, and as a spiritual singer/songwriter, known as, Kevin & The Sacred Fire. He's a passionate teacher and talented songwriter with extraordinary insight to the learning process and an exceptional ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Robert Mayfield
Rob is an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist. He teaches classical guitar, rock guitar, jazz guitar, bass, drums, and piano. He has won may awards for guitar performance, and he has a bachelor's degree in music from Columbia College in Chicago.
Danny Kamins
Danny Kamins is a saxophonist, flutist, clarinetist, and pianist based out of Chicago. Being a musician with diverse skills, he is fluent in the styles of jazz, classical, rock, reggae, and experimental. Born and raised in Houston, TX he picked up music quite easily, being the son of two classical musicians. After attending Houston's prestigious High School For The Performing And Visual Arts, he enrolled in Oberlin Conservatory's jazz department. This was an extremely valuable educational experience, as he was fortunate enough to study with teachers such as Wendell Logan, Gary Bartz, Billy Hart, Robin Eubanks, Ralph Jones, and Paul Cohen. Danny has shared shows with a wide variety of musicians during his career such as Deerhoof, Tony Monaco, Doug Johns and Pat Martino. Chicago groups he plays with and has played with include Organ Yank, The Vincent Davis Avant Garde Experience, Ferron Tejax-Malachi, Pete Ellman Big Band, and Duck You Sucker.
